History of World Environment Day World Environment Day was established in 1972 by the United Nations at the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment, in which 119 countries participated. All signed recognizing the principle of one earth.
After this, 'World Environment Day' started being celebrated in all the countries on 5th June. The Environment Protection Act came into force in India from 19 November 1986.
